How do I register my student without paying yet so he/she is included in emails and the preliminary roster? Scroll down to the Payments/Registration section on the Home page and click on Player Registration Form. Complete and submit the form online.
Ice Hockey doesn't start until November, why do I need to pay so early? RIHA is the fundraising vehicle to the Freehold Regional High School District. As further detailed in our About tab the only way FRHSD would allow Ice Hockey is if the parents 100% self funded the program. RIHA fundraises and manages the collection of the additional funds needed to fund Ice Hockey teams for all six FRHSD schools plus the cooperative partner students at Holmdel, Raritan and Matawan High Schools. In order for FRHSD to schedule and hire coaches, trainers, ice time etc... they need us to commit to them with a payment schedule and a budget which is due beginning Oct. 1st. The number of players drastically affects the budget we provide and in turn drastically affects the per player fee RIHA charges each student. With this in mind we have created payment plans which typically begin each April.
How can I help reduce the cost of Ice Hockey?
First, you can attend, participate and/or get friends and family to participate in one or all of our many fundraisers which directly reduces the budget for all players.
Second way- there are two ways of earning advertising credits- You can bring in advertising for our golf outing via signage or sponsorship of either Lunch, Dinner, or Beverage Sponsors for the day of our outing and/or advertising in our Game Program which ranges from a $25 Player Message to $2500 Full Page Color Cover Ad. Any sponsorship you bring in RIHA will give you 50% of the total sponsorship amount in player credits. We have players who play essentially for free because they take advantage of this opportunity.
I have player credits and owe an amount other than the set amounts in the Player Payments and Registration options. How do I pay? Scroll down below the Player Payment Links on the Home Page and Click on Misc Payment Amount or Go to the Events/Misc Payments Tab and click on Choose an Amount to Pay. You will still need to fill out the Player Agreement Registration Form in the Payments/Registration tab.
I prefer to pay by check. Where do I send it? You can either get a check to any RIHA representative (contact information is provided in Contact tab), or you can mail it to: Regional Ice Hockey Association, 87 South Street, Freehold, NJ 07728
I have more than one player and am entitled to a Sibling Discount. How do I pay for my second and/or subsequent players? The sibling discount is only on the second and additional players so be sure to only take the discount on the additional player(s). When checking out for the second player use Coupon Code: 2NDPLAYER (this will apply a 10% discount at checkout), if you have a 3rd or more player use Coupon Code: SIBLING#3 (this will apply a 15% discount at checkout). When on the payment plan, you can pay each payment as usual and then use the Misc Payment Amt button in the Forms/Brochures/Misc Payment Amts for your last payment plan payment.
My child is injured or sick and I don't know if he/she will be medically cleared to play. Can I pay when he/she is cleared? Unfortunately, the answer is No. We fully understand that you do not want to pay for your child if he/she is not able to play but it is necessary for us to be able to make the best informed decisions based on the number of players each team has and many times it comes down to one or two players that make the determining factor. If you believe that your child will be cleared to play then we need to have payment in to include him/her in our rosters. But if you don't believe they will be cleared in time to play then we ask that you use your best judgement based on your particular situation because we need to make decisions based on the players we have rostered. If you pay and your player is not cleared to play you will be refunded your full player fee. If your player is injured/ill they can still be part of the team by helping their coach(es) with Team Managers.
Why am I being charged an additional $300 fee for not paying on time? You are not actually being charged an extra fee. You are forfeiting a discount we offer in an effort to have solid participation numbers. RIHA needs to have enough time to make informed budgeting decisions when making our submission to FRHSD to hire coaches, trainers, ice time etc. We are required to submit our final budget to FRHSD by Oct 1st. If we submit a budget to them that only includes enough players for one school to only field a Varsity team and then several people pay later than Oct 1st we now have a school that could have had a Varsity and JV Team. Or someone could say they are going to play and pay late and then change their mind and we would be paying for a Varsity and JV Team when there are only enough players for a Varsity Team because FRHSD has already hired a coach etc. We offer payment plans to help with this because we understand it seems early to pay and it is a large amount for some to come up with.
What if the season is canceled due to COVID19 or some other circumstance? If the season is canceled before it starts all players will be refunded in full. We will ask if you want to keep your payment as a credit for the next year. This helps us keep costs down and sometimes parents prefer to keep the credit so they don't need to think about having to pay the next year. Whether you decide to receive a credit or a refund once we are sure the season has been confirmed canceled we will issue refunds/credits immediately. If a season is canceled after it has begun, RIHA will issue prorated refunds/credits in the same manner based on the final reconciliation which will be based on when FRHSD gets their reconciliation to us.
